The ridge runner pocket knife is a smaller version of the very well-known folding hunter (see below), made by Frost Cutlery. It is 3 in. closed in length, and it has a thumb-open hole instead of a thumbnail pull – very easy on the fingers! It is a lockback, as well.
The folding hunter pocket knife is a lockback, single blade folding knife. Buck’s original lockback knife was originally marketed as a “folding hunting knife” in 1964, and while it became popular with sportsmen it saw use with military personnel as it could perform a wide variety of tasks. It was the first time a pocket knife was marketed to be as strong in use as a fixed blade knife.
The handle commonly has a hand grip-friendly slight curve with the lockback release on the opposite bolster of the blade. The knife is usually capped by metal bolsters.
