A penknife, or pen knife, is a British term for a small folding pocket knife. Originally, pen knives were used for thinning and pointing quills to prepare them for use as dip pens and, later, for repairing or re-pointing the nib. Today, they are typically characterized by their smaller, thinner size (very pocket friendly). They come with single or multiple blades. The handle is often pill-shaped.
